Troubleshooting
- Shortcuts aren't working: Chrome's security model prevents extensions from running on restricted pages like
chrome://,edge://, the Chrome Web Store, and empty new tabs. To use Utab, try the shortcut on a normal website. - Changing shortcuts: You can change the default shortcuts for Utab by navigating to
chrome://extensions/shortcutsin your Chrome browser and updating the keybindings. - Customizing the overlay: To adjust colors and overlay size, click the puzzle icon next to the address bar, click the three dots next to Utab, then choose Options to open the options page.
- Overlay not shown: Chrome's memory optimization mechanism kills background workers after being inactive for certain periods. Try opening a new tab or refresh the tab to wake up the worker.
- New tab page behavior: Utab currently overrides the default new tab page to Google.
- Syncing preferences: Your color and scale settings are automatically saved to your Chrome profile (using
chrome.storage.sync) and will sync across devices if you are signed in.
